Fulbright Egyptian Student Program — Master's Degree

Fully funded master's degree grants for Egyptian university graduates to study in the United States for up to two years — in every field of study.

Applications Open · AY2027–2028

Program Goal

The Fulbright Egyptian Student Program — Master's Degree provides fully funded master's degree grants for university graduates to study in the United States for a maximum of two years. All fields are eligible.

Open to every discipline. The humanities, social sciences, arts, the sciences and STEM, as well as the medical and health fields can all apply. Applicants in medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, psychological counseling and dentistry should note that their programs cannot include clinical studies or direct contact with patients.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Egyptian citizenship.
  • Applicants must reside in Egypt from the application process and throughout the selection, placement and pre-departure stages.
  • A bachelor's degree, with a minimum grade of "Good" for applicants in the humanities and social sciences, and "Very Good" for applicants in the sciences.
  • Proof of English-language proficiency from one approved test: TOEFL ITP (minimum 550); TOEFL iBT (minimum 80); Academic or General IELTS (minimum overall 6.5); Duolingo English Test (minimum 105); or an English Proficiency Test from an Egyptian university (minimum 550).
  • Successful completion of all steps of the application, assessment and selection process.
  • U.S. citizens and green-card holders are not eligible to apply. Employees of the U.S. Department of State, U.S. mission staff, ECA-implementing organizations, and Fulbright Commission board members or staff (and their immediate families) are ineligible during, and for one year following, such employment.

Note: Preference is given to applicants without prior significant experience in the U.S. and/or overseas. Applicants may choose and apply to only one grant under the Fulbright Egyptian Student Program — the master's degree grant, the VSR data-collection / PhD research grant, the PhD joint-supervision grant, the non-degree arts grant, the Islamic Studies grant, or the MBA grant.

The selection runs through a defined sequence: program announcement, online application deadline, application review, personal interviews for shortlisted applicants, a post-interview information session, official nomination or regret letters, post-nomination orientation, TOEFL iBT and GRE/GMAT testing, university placement and selection, pre-departure orientation, and finally departure. Grantees who require a long-term English program will travel between January and March 2027.
