Fulbright Egypt visit to Mansoura National University

BFCE Visit to Mansoura National University, May 2026

05 May 2026 · Outreach

The Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt continued its outreach to Egypt's national universities with a visit to Mansoura National University this May, bringing the Fulbright Program to the heart of the Delta and to the scholars and students who study there.

A Fulbright delegation met with the University President, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, together with the deans of the university's faculties. The meeting offered an opportunity to introduce the university's leadership to the Fulbright Program's mission of educational exchange and to explore how the Commission and Mansoura National University might work together to expand international opportunities for the university's community.

Visits at this level — president and deans gathered around the same table — are a deliberate part of the Commission's outreach strategy. Engaging a university's senior leadership ensures that awareness of Fulbright opportunities does not remain confined to a single department but is carried across faculties, reaching students and researchers in every discipline the university serves.

Following the meeting with the university's leadership, the Fulbright team led an information session devoted to the Commission's grants. Attendees learned about the range of opportunities open to Egyptians — from Master's degree and PhD awards to research grants and professional fellowships — and received practical guidance on eligibility, the application process and how to prepare a competitive submission.

Every campus we visit widens the circle of Egyptians who can see a Fulbright future for themselves. In a city like Mansoura, that means talent which might otherwise go unnoticed finds a path to the world's classrooms — and a way home again.

For the Commission, reaching universities beyond Cairo is essential to its mission of widening access. By travelling to institutions across the country, the Fulbright team ensures that exchange opportunities are genuinely national in scope — open to gifted students wherever they happen to study, not only to those in the capital's best-connected circles.

Established in 1949 as the oldest and largest Fulbright program in the Arab world, the Commission continues to build its network campus by campus. The visit to Mansoura National University formed part of a wider season of outreach across Egypt's universities, each meeting renewing the Commission's commitment to cultivating mutual understanding through educational exchange, one Fulbrighter at a time.
